MARULA OIL

Marula Oil, derived from the marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) native to southern Africa and also known as jelly plum, cat thorn, and cider tree, is obtained by delicately pressing the kernels of the marula fruit. The tree, belonging to the Anacardiaceae family, is characterized by a single stem, a broad crown, and a height ranging from 15 to 20 meters. The kernels boast an oil content ranging from 50 to 60 percent.

This oil serves as a foundational ingredient in cosmetic formulations for skincare and massage oils. Oleic acid (omega-9, C18:1) within the oil imparts a fluidizing effect on the membranes of skin cells, facilitating the deep penetration of cosmetic components. Additionally, the saturated fatty acid content forms a protective film, soothing and reducing Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) without leaving behind any greasy residues. It proves to be an excellent choice for addressing dry, chapped skin, and it is also beneficial in haircare products.
